Move, Speak, Sing!

A workshop for people who dance, sing, act, write, play!

With Kim Epifano and Jeff Morrison

DATE:  Sunday February 2, 2025 @ 10:30AM-12PM

LOCATION: The Dance Palace, 503 B St. @ Point Reyes Station, Pt. Reyes CA

This workshop will draw on the basic principles of Fitzmaurice Voicework® and movement language from Contact Improvisation. We will explore the connections between breath and self-awareness by sharing weight, space and gravity, which will lead to embodied, authentic expression of self through movement, sound and words. Create a deeper playing field for your artistic growth to investigate connection to self, sensory awareness, and organic presence.

Fitzmaurice Voicework® focuses on the whole human voice, and combines adaptations of voice training techniques with modifications of yoga, bioenergetics, energy work, and many other disciplines. This integration harmonizes the voluntary and involuntary aspects of the nervous system and the voice. Fitzmaurice Voicework® explores a free range of breathing and vocalization, and also practices breath management and focused intention, leading to voices that can communicate freely without excess effort. It enhances speaking for performance, singing, voice with movement, vocal rehabilitation, and developing greater presence.

In Move, Speak, Sing! participants will be invited to explore how sound, words and maybe even song arise from states of deep self awareness kindled by Fitzmaurice Voicework and to investigate these states and feelings inside of a Contact Improv framework.  Be prepared to sweat, and have fun! ALL LEVELS WELCOME!

I love Kim! This is the best course and teacher combination here! She has brought the dance level up at this university. I feel she would be a good permanent addition to any university faculty.
