This Dance/USA Initiative sent Kim to University of North Dakota (2002) as a guest professor commissioned to direct the chorus in a live production of “The Crucible” as well as to University of California, Santa Barbara (2004) where she taught master classes in Choreography, Improvisation, Contact Improvisation and Beginning to Advanced Modern Dance Technique. Her work was profiled in Dance Magazine in 2004, called “Feathering the Basket.”
The UCSB residency resulted in “Gather” an evening of new dance works by Epiphany Productions’ Kim Epifano in conjunction with the UC Santa Barbara Dance Company. This time she uses her innovative blend of sonic dance theater to explore her own Italian American roots and one of humanity’s most defining dramas – the odyssey of immigration. “Gather” premiered April 17 and 18th, 2004 at Dance Mission Theater.
